After years of political deadlock, sea bass
conservation finally got moving in 2015. With the help of considerable grass
roots pressure from recreational anglers and conservationists, the EU
Commission succeeded in persuading the EU Member States to agree to a number of
emergency measures. To keep the pressure on, SOS Bass was launched. And they

In France sea bass is known under the names ‘bar’ and ‘loup de mer’ (bass and wolf of the sea). For a long time it was believed both names referred to one and the same species: Dicentrarchus labrax. However, new genetic research shows that the bar and loup are distant cousins instead of twin brothers.
